PODMORES supplies an innovative system to count pastilles and chewing gum pillows to a packaging specialist in filling of sachets, bottles and tubes. The bespoke Bowl Feeder system developed by PODMORES includes a vibratory bowl feeder capable of counting the products and discharging them into the pocket of the flighted belt in feed to the bagger.

The bowl feeder is a stainless steel fabricated unit, adjustable for several products. The counting section is also adjustable to allow various accurate count quantities. A discharge gate is integrated to allow the product to be discharged in singulated batches on receipt of a signal from the bagger. A ‘light screen’ counter is also available should the customer need this option in the future.

Paul Haywood, Electrical Engineer for PODMORES said: “The bowl has a 660mm diameter to allow a good quantity of product to be loaded into the bowl feeder, removing the need for a bulk loader, we estimate a capacity of around 1500 to 2000 pastilles, giving up to 25mins between reloads depending on the speed of the bagger, which has exceeded our customer expectations.

The equipment was supplied with full instructions and certification to satisfy the current machinery directive including risk assessments enabling immediate installation.

This system is also recommended for handling small and regularly shaped components in the manufacturing processes of products from the following industries: aerospace, automotive, bakery, ceramics, chemicals, confectionery, cosmetics, electronics, food & beverage, medical & biotech, packaging, pharmaceutical,  plastics, recycling and quarries.
