Covid-19 Update 3rd April 2020

This is an update to our previous statement on 20th March 2020 in relation to the developing Covid-19 pandemic.

Staff

At this time our management team remain on site to support day-to-day operational business activity. All other office staff have been working from home for some time now using the latest technologies to ensure continuity of operations. Staff can be contacted by telephone or email as usual and we continue to progress orders, design, enquiries and technical support as required and with no disruption. We took this step to ensure that we minimise the potential exposure of production staff to Covid-19. We have implemented numerous new procedures to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff including where it is absolutely necessary to attend a customer's site.

Customers

We continue to work closely with our customers using telephone and video communications as well as collaborative working platforms. Where it is absolutely necessary for us to visit site, for example for an installation, commissioning, service or sales support visit that cannot be done remotely we have a range of new procedures in place to assess and reduce the risk of transmission of the disease, ensuring the safety of our and your team.

We have broadened our emergency response team to work with customers in key industries (food, pharmaceutical, medical etc) to assist with the major challenges they face in:

  1. Increasing throughput of existing production lines;
  2. Changing product/packaging formats of lines to more essential product variants;
  3. Reducing delivery dates for existing orders;
  4. Expedited technical feasibility studies and quotations to allow urgently needed projects to start as quickly as possible;
  5. Technical support for machinery;
  6. Emergency remote training on machinery for operators who are not familiar with it and are having to operate it for the first time because of operational need.

Supply Chain

At this time we have experienced only a minor affect to our supply chain. We took steps many weeks ago to limit all but absolutely necessary meetings at Podmores with our supply chain, focusing on virtual alternatives. We have clear instructions at our Goods-In/Out access areas about procedures to follow when delivering/collecting goods for drivers to follow and continue to assess our supply chain's operational capacity.

Podmores are monitoring the situation constantly, and our position will continually develop in line with government advice. We would like to thank all of our staff for the incredible team effort they have all shown and their 'can-do' approach.

We would like to inform all of our customers, suppliers and team that Podmores are taking all of the prudent and necessary steps to protect all staff and visitors. 

We are currently not directly affected by the COVID-19 virus and have not experienced any detrimental impact to our supply chain. We are currently able to fully support customers and continue all business operations.  

We have well extablished telephone and video conferencing facilities and are able to arrange any meeting that is necessary, allowing us to continue to work with you on existing or upcoming projects. We have directed staff to, where possible, conduct all meetings using these methods and to only visit sites or hold meetings at Podmores where is it absolutely necessary to do so. Should you need support beyond telehone assistance we are ready to help using Skype, TeamViewer, WhatsApp etc.  

Where it is absolutely necessary to either visit you or for you to visit us we will be asking a couple of basic questions as control measures and to ensure the wellbeing of our team. This will include all sales and service/installation visits. 

We have also performed an extraordinary review and audit of our 'working-from-home' policies, procedures and infrastructure so that if it becomes necessary to impliment this step we are ready to do so. In the case of members of staff in a particularly high risk category have already move to them to work from home purely as a precaution. All staff at home can be contacted by telephone and email as usual.

Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.

Podmores is principally involved in the manufacturing of materials handling systems to all sectors, specialising in vibratory machinery and bespoke solutions. Podmores’ most recent clients have included major players such as Mars, Ishida, KP Snacks and 3M. Podmores have recently updated their YouTube Playlist on Sprinkling and Depositing machines. Used in a wide variety of industries and production processes, our reliable and consistent sprinklers have helped companies to:

  • Sprinkle 100s & 1000s (nonpareils) onto donuts without any missed spots
  • Get dehydrated fruit pieces in lanes onto cereal bars and reduce giveaway product
  • Put mini-marshmallows and chocolate nibs onto snack bars
  • Dispense chopped nuts and other toppings into cupcakes as they passed beneath on a conveyor
  • Put grated cheese onto sausage rolls and reduce waste by 75% whilst improving quality

Podmores have developed a bespoke dough recovery system for collecting and returning off-cuts of pastry from a production facility so that it can be easily returned for re-use. The system was made out of 316 stainless steel to ensure the dough was kept free from contamination and met the customer’s high cleanliness requirements and designed with a quick and simple clean down in mind.
